What do you expect

Filed under: General — Eldon @ 5:55 pm

I will be teaching several Education Methods classes: Social Studies, Religion, Math, Computer, Reading.

I'd like to hear from students who will be taking those classes.

What do you expect from teacher education classes?

What changes would you like to see in teacher education?

What technologies do you think really improve education?

I am really excited about moving to a new job. I almost dislike using the word "job" because it is such an awesome opportunity. Beginning in June I will be working at Atlantic Union College in South Lancaster, Massachusetts, teaching in the Education and Psychology Department.

With over 30 years of experience in K-12 classrooms I have much to contribute to the preparation of the education majors at AUC. I have a passion for teaching and learning. Learning is exciting; teaching is extreme. At least the way that I approach it.

I have always incorporated as much technology into my teaching as possible. Every tech advance and gadget gets scrutinized for possible connections and adaptations for educational purposes. Right now I am reading a Blogs, Wikis, Podcasts, and Other Powerful Web Tools for Classrooms by Will Richardson. While I have used Websites in my teaching, I have just begun to explore Blogs. Blogs, wikis, and podcasts offer great things to higher education. I plan to introduce them to my AUC classes. My class on Computers in the Classroom will involve a lot more than just word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and databases.

Can't wait to get started.
